About Malibu
As a premiere beach destination, Malibu is nestled in Los Angeles’ Santa Monica Mountains. The city is located approximately 30 miles to the west of downtown Los Angeles.
Incorporated in 1991, Malibu stretches 21 miles along the pacific coastline and Santa Monica Mountains. It is renowned for it’s mediterranean climate and the majority of residents are located within a half mile of the Pacific Coast Highway. The PCH traverses the entire 21 miles of Malibu Coastline. The beaches that span Malibu include world famous beaches including Topanga Beach, Malibu Beach, Zuma Beach, Leo Carrillo Beach, Point Dume Beach, Big Rock Beach, Dan Blocker Beach, Broad Beach, Las Flores Beach, Surfrider Beach and La Costa Beach.

May Rindge allowed prominent Hollywood movie stars to build vacation homes in the Colony as a defensive public relations wedge against the Southern Pacific from taking her property under eminent domain for a train.
